Paul Edwin CAVINESS, 92, died Friday, June 1, 2012, in Phoenix, Ariz.
A private family service was held at the National Memorials Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.
Memorials may be made Hospice of the Valley (sic), 1510 E. Flower St. Phoenix, AZ 85014.
Mr. CAVINESS was born the son of Mandley and Gail CAVINESS in Fairfield Nov. 8, 1919. He married Norma in 1939.
Mr. CAVINESS became an integral part of the family contracting business that would span four generations and operate in four states.
He was active in community affairs and served as vice president of Southeastern Iowa Chamber of Commerce.
He was a staff sergeant in the United States Army Air Force during World War II, serving as a nose gunner on a B-24 Liberator bomber.
He moved his family west in the mid 1950s, settling in Phoenix. He continued developing his contracting business, as well as his passion for golf.
He was a member-emeritus of Moon Valley Country Club and past president.
He enjoyed family gatherings, good story-telling and made people laugh.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter Nancy Jo ROTSMAN; and two sons, Michael and Steve.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leland and Jack; one sister, Pat CAMPBELL; and one grandson.
