Thursday June 23, 1983C.L. MANLEY, Dexter officer, dead at 62
Chester L. MANLEY, 206 E. Fillmore, vice president of foundry operations for the Dexter Company, died Wednesday at 4 p.m. at University Hospitals in Iowa City. He was 62.
A Dexter stockholder and director, MANLEY had been actively associated with the company for 31 years.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clair Odell officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday evening from 7 to 8 at the Raymond Funeral Home.
A lifelong resident of Fairfield, MANLEY was born Sept. 29, 1920, the son of Fred and Caramine Van DYKE MANLEY. He was a graduate of the local high school. He was married to Marjorie KOONTZ Dec. 3, 1949.
Surviving are his wife and two daughters, Rhonda STONEKING, Ottumwa; and Cynthia MANLEY, Cedar Falls. Also surviving are two grandchildren and two sisters, Marjorie BENN, Fairfield; and Dorothy HATT, Burlington. His parents and one brother are deceased.
MANLEY was one of 10 men who organized the present Dexter Company when it was incorporated in December, 1971. He had been a stockholder since the company was purchased from Philco-Ford in February, 1972.
MANLEY was a member of the local National Guard unit when it was mobilized for federal duty in World War II. He retired with the rank of captain. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, VFW and the Grey Iron Ductible Iron Founders Society.
