Harry L. ROBERTS

BRIGHTON -- Harry L. ROBERTS, 78, of Brighton died Friday, Jan. 17, 1997, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

The funeral service was at 10:30 a.m. today, Monday, Jan. 20, at Jones and Eden Funeral Home in Washington, Iowa. Burial was in Howard Grove Cemetery in Pleasant Plain. Memorials can be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

ROBERTS was born May 18, 1918, in Fairfield, the son of Ralph and Bertha ROBERTS. He married Edna LEE Aug. 6, 1938, in Mount Pleasant. He attended school in Fairfield and lived his entire life in the Washington, Mount Pleasant and Brighton areas.

He was retired from Iowa Southern Utilities. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the VFW in Washington.

Survivors include his wife of Brighton; 12 children, Bob RITZ of Wayland, Don RITZ of Mount Pleasant, Sylvia KAYE, Branchard of Oskaloosa, Ron of Fort Madison, John of Jones, Okla., Terry of Kendalville, Ind., Vickie WALLACE of Mount Union, Danny GILL and Gary, both of Brighton, M. Jo HOWELL, Bert TURNER and Arlene HAUSER, all of Washington; 30 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; four brothers, Clarence, Wilbur and Ralph Jr., all of Fairfield, and Jack of Winter Haven, Fla., and three sisters, Arlene WORKMAN of Stockport, Pat PERRIN of Fairfield and Helen HAYNES of Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son and one daughter.
