Page 6, Column 2DEATH OF MRS. T. M. HAWK.
Sarah JENNISON was born July 25, 1861, in Wayne county, near Clio, Ia., where she grew to womanhood. She was married to Thomas HAWK in 1880 and came to Jefferson county, where she has lived ever since.
Three children were born to this union, Rolla, Minnie and Ina. Mrs. HAWK was a faithful mother and a good, kind neighbor. She was the possessor of a sweet, amiable, loving disposition and we all ask why death placed its chilled hand on that loved one and stopped the beating of that warm heart so full of sympathy for others.
Through all the weary months of suffering that fell to her lot, with a smile her whispering voice gave a word of welcome to all. With the faith of a child and implicit trust in her Savior she passed away Wednesday afternoon at four o'clock. Although we are sad and lonely, yet how could we wish her back to a world of disappointment, pain and death.
The funeral took place Friday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. Chamberlin, of the Lower Richwoods church, conducting the services. A large number of relatives and friends gathered to look for the last time on the dear face and then we laid our loved one to rest amid tears and flowers.
She is numbered with
That heavenly corps
Near to her Savior's feet
Chanting sweet notes of sacred lore.
Dear friends, oh do not weep.A FRIEND.
