Mrs. Lewis LONG.
Mary Ann, daughter of William and Francis HAWK, was born in Jefferson County, Iowa, July 6, 1846, and died at her home, northeast of the city Jan. 5, 1927. Her entire life was spent in this county. Early in life she became a Christian and died in the hope of eternal life.
On January 11, 1872, she was married to Lewis H. LONG. To this union were born three children who with the husband survive. They are L. A. and Miss F. L. (sic - T.L.), at home, and W. R. of Russell, also a foster son, Carl N. JAMES of Des Moines.
Funeral services were held from the home Friday aftenoon at one o'clock in charge of Rev. R. H. Polly. A mixed quartet sang "Beautiful Isle," "Going Down the Valley," and "Abide With Me." Interment was made in in Evergreen cemetery.
Admin. note: Buried in Lot 3rd.127 with husband Lewis who died in 1936.
