Mildred BOWER dies at 78

GLASGOW - Mildred G. BOWER,, 78, lifelong resident of Glasgow, died Friday, Dec. 9, 1988, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City following a two-week illness.

Born Jan. 3, 1910, in Jeffersn County, she was the daughter of Ernest D. and Susie WATSON JOHNSTON. She was married to James L. BOWER June 2, 1934.

A former school teacher, she was a member of the Glasgow United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, the Dorcas Society of Glasgow and the Lockridge Senior Citizens Kitchen Band.

Surviving are her husband; one son, Ron BOWER of Fairfield; one daughter, Donna MOYERS of Bowling Green, Ohio; one grandson and three granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Hazel LAWRENCE, as well as two brothers and one sister in infancy.

The funeral service tentatively is planned for 2 p.m. Monday at the Raymond Funeral Home, Fairfield. Interment will be in Glasgow Cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials may be made to the Glasgow Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
