Until 1902 his home was on a forty acre tract of land in Penn township, the first place he purchased when he came to the state. Mr. HAWK was born in Coffee Co., Tenn., December 28th, 1816. Married in this county to Rhoda BLAKELEY (sic - BLAKELY) who died a few years later. They had one son, William C. Hawk, now a resident of this city. Later he was married to Frances McCLURE, who bore him eleven children. Four of them are yet living - Thomas HAWK, Mrs. Mary LONG and Mrs. Sarah LONG in this county, and Stephen HAWK in western Iowa. After the death of his second wife, Mr. Hawk lived alone for several years, but was again married, December 28th, 1900, to Mrs. Sarah E. STARKS (sic - STARK) who survives him.... The body was taken to Richwoods Cemetery for interment.
