Doris Mae Babcock Nelson, 69, of Maui, Hawaii, formerly of Fairfield, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, after a 15-year battle with breast cancer.

A private service will be held in Maui.

Memorials may be made to Circle of Life Hospice, 1575 Delucchi Lane, No. 214, Reno, NV 89502.

Mrs. Nelson was born March 17, 1934, in Fairfield, the daughter of Richard and Mildred Babcock. She married James L. Nelson in 1971.

Mrs. Nelson put together a cookbook for her family and friends during her illness called "My Favorite Things, A Collection of Recipes." The proceeds of her book have gone to Circle of Life Hospice.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Julie Reichardt and husband Gerd of Gardnerville, Nev., and JanRene Ashman and husband Ken of Santa Ana, Calif.; four grandchildren; and one brother, Larry Babcock of Panora.
