Marvin "Bud Hupp" Lee Black
November 05, 2003Marvin "Bud Hupp" Lee Black, 68, of Richland, died at 8:20 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003, at his home.
The body was cremated. Family visitation will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Friday. A memorial service will follow visitation at 6:30 p.m. at Richland United Methodist Church in Richland, with the Rev. Mary Horras officiating. A private family burial will take place at a later date in Batavia Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Keokuk County Hospice or Richland United Methodist Church.
Mr. Black was born Oct. 15, 1935, in Jefferson County, the son of Harold Marvin and Mable Beatrice Boggs Black. He married Caroleann Gingerich Oct. 23, 1955, at Hope Lutheran Church in Germanville.
Mr. Black lived most of his life in the Libertyville and Batavia communities. He graduated from Fairfield High School with the class of 1953. He was raised by his grandparents Bull and Ruth Hupp. He farmed in the Batavia area until 1977. He went into the trucking business until he retired, due to his health.
He was a member of Richland United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his mother, Mable Lucas of Georgia; his wife; one son, Ron Lee Black and wife Mari Sue of Batavia; one daughter, Martha Jean Black Morrow and husband Tom of Des Moines; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gary and Larry Black, both of Des Moines; and two sisters, Carolyn Royce of Des Moines and Vickie Peebles of Georgia.
Mr. Black was preceded in death by his father; and one son, Randy Joe Black.
