V. ANDERSON DIES SATURDAY

Verlin Otis ANDERSON, prominent young man of Fairfield, passed away Saturday evening at 5:55 at the University Hospital in Iowa City (note: in Johnson Co., IA) where he had been taken Wednesday evening, December 19, for emergency treatment. He had been a patient at the Jefferson county hospital since the preceding Sunday. He had been seriously ill the past three weeks.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home in charge of Dr. L. H. Scheerer, assisted by A. K. Harper. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery beside his mother who preceded him in death Feb. 12, 1920 (sic - Mabel B. HUNT ANDERSON, died Feb. 24th, 1920).

Verlin ANDERSON was born in Fairfield, May 19th, 1917, and has spent his entire life in this community. He married Miss Virlee MARTIN, Winfield, on June 26th, 1942. At the present time she is employed as secretary in the county clerk's office and Mr. ANDERSON had been employed at the Harper Brush Factory for the past two years. They recently purchased their home at 104 West Lowe St. and occupied it November 10th of this year. He was a member of the Methodist church at Marsh, Ia. located near his wife's home.

Despite his poor health at various times during his life, Mr. ANDERSON was a great lover of outdoor sports and hunting. He and his father, Otis ANDERSON, 601 West Burlington St., were constant companions on hunting trips.

Besides his wife and father, Mr. ANDERSON is survived by his stepmother, Mrs. Otis ANDERSON; one sister, Mrs. W. E. YEAST, Des Moines; one step-sister, Blanche RAMSAY, Fairfield; two uncles, Abner and Harlan ANDERSON, also of this city, and a host of other relatives and friends.
