Walter Joseph SCHAFER

Walter Joseph SCHAFER, 58, of Fairfield, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at Jefferson County Health Center.

The body has been cremated. A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Fairfield Eagles Club No. 1927.

Memorials may be made to the family for care and education of minor children at home. Cards and memorials may be sent to Patrice Schafer: 606 W. Adams Ave. Fairfield 52556.

Behner Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. SCHAFER was born May 4, 1953, in Fairfield, the son of Russell L. SCHAFER and Eleaner DWIRE SCHAFER LITTLE. He married Patrice SEMBLE Oct. 12, 2006.

He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1972 and served in the United States Navy from 1972-1974. He was a self-employed construction worker the past 42 years.

Survivors include his parents; his wife; two sons, Jeremiah SCHAFER and wife Blanco of Oxford, and Derek SCHAFER of Texas; sevel step-children, Darrick CECCHINI and wife Kelly, Lisa CARSON, Theresa CARSON, William VAN NESS Jr. and wife Michele, Chauntel WILKINS, Bryan WILKINS and Patricia WILKINS; two grandchildren: 12 stepgrandchildren, four stepgreat-grandchildren, one brother: Jerry SCHAFER of Fairfield and one sister, Teresa THOMAS of Keosauqua.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
