Edna L. MAIRET

Edna L. MAIRET, 90, of Burlington, died at 2:55 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at the Great River Medical Center, Klein Center, in Burlington.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Jan Burn-Hintze officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery.

The family will begin to receive friends at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until the church service.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Klein Center, Great River Hospice and Rock Creek Church Restoration Project. Lunning Chapel in is charge of arrangements.

Mrs. MAIRET was born Dec. 1, 1911, in Keokuk County, the daughter of Minor Mairet and Lillus DAVIS ADAMS. She married Henry Paul MAIRET Jan. 30, 1934, in Ottumwa.

She graduated from Packwood High School in 1930 and attended Iowa State Teachers College. She farmed near Batavia, and later moved to Fairfield. She enjoyed playing cards with friends, cooking, sewing and entertaining in her home.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and also was a 4-H leader, a Bible school and Sunday school teacher, a member of Cross Lanes Club and later was involved in a circle of the Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Janet BOLEY and husband Carl of Burlington; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter; 10 brothers and sisters.

Note: She was also preceded in death by her husband on 10 February 1989.
