Henry P. MAIRET dies at 88

Henry P. MAIRET, 88, of 1008 W. Carpenter Ave., died Friday, Feb. 10, 1989, at Jefferson County Hospital.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Campbell Funeral Home in Batavia with the Rev. Richard Wallarab officiating. The body has been cremated with burial in Batavia Cemetery.

Visitation is from 7:30-8 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or Jefferson County Park.

Mairet was born July 30, 1900, in Henry County north of Mount Pleasant, the son of Paul and Rose MARET MAIRET. He lived in the Batavia area where he farmed until he moved to Fairfield in 1974.

He married Edna ADAMS Jan. 30, 1935, in Ottumwa. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and helped establish Jefferson County Park southwest of Fairfield. He worked part-time for the Jefferson County Conservation Board for five years.

Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Janet BOLEY of Burlington, two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Preceding him death were a daughter, Linda, two brothers and three step-brothers.
