Howard R. "Pete" Morrow, 83, of Fairfield died at 1:52 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at Jefferson County Hospital.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Raymond Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ed Parker officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, northeast of Martinsburg.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Crossroads Hospice or the American Heart Association.

Mr. Morrow was born Jan. 26, 1920, in Martinsburg, the son of Emmett and Urzula Randall Morrow. He married Evelyn Craig Oct. 26, 1946. She died in 1959. He married Collen Moore Brown Dec. 29, 1989.

Mr. Morow grew up in the Martinsburg community, graduating from Martinsburg High School, where he was on the state championship basketball team. He was a Parsons College senior when he left school to enlist in the United States Navy. He was a Navy pilot in the Pacific Rim and Guadacanal. He also was a lt. commander in Naval Aviation. He lived in Hedrick and Ottumwa before moving to Fairfield in 1960. He owned and operated Singer Sewing machine sales and repair business for 55 years before his retirement. His pastimes included raising and showing horses from 1960-2001.

He was a member of Suburban Heights Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Linda Karr and husband Jim of Tulsa, Okla., Marilyn Dorsa and husband Anthony of Manorville, N.Y., Claudia Morrow of Hoover, Ala., and Paula Morrow of East Patchogue, N.Y.; two stepdaughters, Kimberly Brown of Fairfield and Michelle Rushing of Johnston; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Besides his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Ronald Morrow; two sisters, Martina Hibler and Olive Bacon; and one brother, Albert Morrow.
