John R. GOBBLE Dies In Idaho

John R. "Jack" GOBBLE, 59, former Fairfield resident, died suddenly Sunday night at his home in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was stricken about 11 p.m. while watching television.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday in Idaho Falls. The body will be returned to Fairfield where it will lie in state at the Raymond Funeral Home. Graveside services in Evergreen Cemetery are pending.

GOBBLE operated his own advertising firm in Idaho Falls. A native of Fairfield, he was born March 16, 1909, the son of Bruce and Mary Vera ATCHISON GOBBLE. He was married to the former Pauline WHITE of Fairfield in 1937.

GOBBLE was a graduate of Fairfield High School. He attended Parsons College and received his degree from New York University.

For many years GOBBLE was active in Chamber of Commerce work. He served as secretary of Chambers of Commerce in Fairfield, Jefferson and Beatrice, Neb., before moving to Idaho Falls about 25 years ago.

GOBBLE was an Eagle Scout and received a Carnegie medal for heroism. An avid genealogist, he did a great amount of research of the life of Harry "Pat" Shriner, noted Fairfield artist. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

GOBBLE is survived by his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Byron WOOD, Idaho Falls, Ida., and Mrs. Kenneth BROWNLEE, Seattle, Wash., and four grandchildren.

Also surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce GOBBLE; and one brother, Lee T. GOBBLE, all of Fairfield.

GOBBLE Rites Here Friday

Graveside services for John R. "Jack" GOBBLE, 59, Idaho Falls, Idaho will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Evergreen Cemetery.

GOBBLE, a native of Fairfield, died Sunday night of an apparent heart attack at his home in Idaho Falls.

Friends may call at the Raymond Funeral Home Thursday evening. Graveside rites will be conducted by Dr. C. R. Douglass.

GOBBLE served as secretary of the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce in 1936 and 1937. After filling similar positions at Jefferson, Iowa, and Beatrice, Neb., he moved to Idaho Falls as Chamber of Commerce manager in 1942.

GOBBLE operated a shoe store in Idaho falls from 1948 to 1958 when he organized his own advertising agency. He was a former president of the Idaho Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Funeral services were held today in Idaho Falls.

Those who came Friday afternoon for graveside rites for John GOBBLE included Mrs. Edna TUCKER, her mother, Mrs. Frank GOBBLE, and her daughter, Mrs. Ira MORRISON, all of Washington; Mr. and Mrs. Ken BROWNLEE of Seattle, Wash.; Mr. and Mrs. Byron WOOD, Patty and Janice of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Mrs. Kenneth Ray of Crawfordsville; Mr. and Mrs. Hugy Johnson and Helen Carlson of Centerville, Donna WHITE of Des Moines. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Carlson of Ottumwa, who were unable to attend the services came Thursday evening.
