Willanna ST. CLAIR RILA

Willanna ST. CLAIR RILA, 83, of Mount Pleasant, died from cancer thursday, March 29, 2012, at Park Place Long Term Care Unit.

A memorial service was held Sunday at First Presbyterian Church in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Douglas Darnold officiating. Mrs. RILA donated her body to University of Iowa Medical School.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or First Presbyterian Church.

Arrangements were in the care of Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant.

Mrs. RILA was born Sept. 20, 1928, in Baltimore, Md., the daughter of W. Vernay and Irma WESLEY ST. CLAIR. She married Clinton RILA Sept. 2, 1950 in Madonna, Md.

Mrs. RILA was raised in Jarrettsville, Md., and graduated from Friends High School in Baltimore in 1946. She then received her bachelor's degree in chemistry from College of Wooster in Ohio. Mrs. RILA worked as a chemist in Chicago while her husband furthered his education. After her children were born, she was a bookkeeper for Garrels Elevator and then for Challen Accounting. She was executive secretary for the National TTT Society until retiring in 1997. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she was an ordained deacon. She served as a Girl Scout leader. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Evening Rotary Club, serving as president 1999-2000. She was a member of TTT Chapter DD. She was a longtime volunteer with RSVP and Henry County Health Center and was a driver for Home Delivered Meals. She also was a member of Rhythm Rockers.

Mrs. RILA enjoyed bowling, sewing, knitting and ballroom dancing.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Church RILA and wife Sherry of Mount Pleasant; one daughter, Meg RICHTER and husband Stacy of Fort Worth, Texas; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
