Bennie MUNTZ, 84, of Bonaparte, died at 4:48 a.m. today, Friday, March 30, 2012, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Bennie MUNTZ

Bennie Eugene "Whitey" MUNTZ, 84, of Bonaparte died at 4:48 a.m. Friday, March 30, 2012, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

The body has been cremated. A memorial service is set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with Larry Shipley officiating and a flag presentation by the Sargeant-Osweiler Post No. 563, American Legion.

Visitation with family present is set from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday prior to the service.

Memorials to the family can be left at the funeral home or mailed to 502 Texas St., Bonaparte 52620.

Mr. MUNTZ was born Dec. 5, 1927, in Bonaparte, the son of Bennie and Mabel BROWN MUNTZ. He married Bernie ULIBARRI March 1, 1951, in LaPuenta, N.M.

Mr. MUNTZ graduated from Bonaparte High School, worked at Lazenby Motor Co., a gas station and was manager of Farmers Co-Op grain elevator, all in Bonaparte. He retired in 1992 from Blue Bird Bus Company in Mount Pleasant.

Mr. MUNTZ served in the U.S. Air Force in Japan during the Korean conflict and was a member of Sargeant-Osweiler Post No. 563, American Legion in Bonaparte. Survivors include: his wife; four sons, Robert MUNTZ of Bonaparte, Raymond MUNTZ and wife Blanche of Piketon, Ohio, Carl MUNTZ and partner Michael Bruce of Avondale, Ariz., and Kenton MUNTZ and wife Veronica of Agryle; three daughters, Gloria STARNES and husband Charley of Keosauqua, Teresa GRAHAM and partner John Wallerich of Sigourney, and Stacy MUNTZ and partner Dimitrious Royal of Keosauqua; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Morris MUNTZ of Warren, Ohio; and one sister, Emma STECKER of Bonaparte.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John MUNTZ; and five grandchildren.
