Vernice Pearl JAMES-SMITH, a resident of Long Term Care Unit at Jefferson County Hospital, died at 7:30p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 1998.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Brethren Cemetery northwest of Libertyville with the Rev. Gordon Oliver officiating. Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. at Behner Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Church of the Bretren or the donor's choice.
Mrs. JAMES-SMITH was born April 4, 1904, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Dan and Margaret RODIBAUGH PEEBLER. She married Don JAMES in 1928. He died in 1982. She married Jasper SMITH. He also died.
She lived in Fairfield for 20 years. She previously lived in rural Batavia. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of the Brethren.
Survivors include one sister Vernie DAVIS of Fairfield; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and one brother Ellis PEEBLER.
