Charles COOPER

Charles Carroll COOPER, 66, of Lockridge, died at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 1998, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Peter Drever officiating. Burial will be in Lockridge Cemetery. Open visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American CAncer Society or donor's choice.

Mr. COOPER was born Feb. 20, 1932, in Clinton, Mo., the son of Harley and Edith WILLIAMS COOPER. He married Dorothy BEYER Sept. 26, 1955, in Clinton. She died Sept. 26, 1981, and he married Margaret GARRELS in 1983.

Mr. COOPER lived most of his life in the Lockridge community. He was a truck driver for Ideal Ready Mix Company in Fairfield before retiring. He was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Lockridge and Lockridge Rough Riders Saddle Club.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Rick of Mount Vernon, Ill.; one siser, Phillis PUCKETT of Clinton; one stepson, Gary GARRELS of Davis City; four stepdaughters, Betty LUZADDER, Dixie PECK and Patty RICHARDS, all of Fairfield, and Gail GARRELS of Newton; four grandchildren; and 10 stepgrandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and two sons, Gordon in infancy and Thomas.
