Mary SALTS, 88, of Eldon, died Saturday, May 4, 2002, at Nelson Nursing Home in Fairfield.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the McCleary Cemetery, east of Batavia with Ricky Fiedler officiating.
Open visitation began at noon today with the family present from 7-8 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Mrs. SALTS was born July 22, 1913, in Birmingham, the daughter of Silas and Veda MATHIAS EHRET. She married Stanley SALTS Sept. 17, 1949, in Muscatine. He preceded her in death.
She was raised and educated in Van Buren County. After living in several different states, she settled in the Eldon area and lived there for 35 years where she was a laborer. Her pastimes included fishing.
She was a member of the Living Hope Bible Church in Eldon.
Survivors include one sister, Dorothy COOK of Libertyville.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by six brothers, Willie, Sam, Abe, Lester, Raymond and Roscoe EHRET; and one sister, Vada, in infancy; and one half-brother, Roy MATHIAS.

Note: Records in the Jefferson County Recorder's Office indicate she was first married to a Willard SHETTLER. In Stanley SALTS' obituary, she is referred to as Mary CARNES. It would appear that her marriage to Stanley was her third. She is buried with Stanley in McCleary Cemetery.
