Harold H. Lynn
October 27, 2003Harold H. Lynn, 90, of Brighton died following a brief illness early Friday morning, Oct. 24, 2003, at Washington County Hospital in Washington, Iowa.
The body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Brighton United Church, with the Rev. Kitch Shatzer officiating. Private burial at Hillcrest Cemetery will be held at a later date.
A memorial has been established to Washington County Ambulance or Brighton United Church.
Gould Funeral Home of Brighton is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Lynn was born Nov. 29, 1912, near Brighton, the son of John D. and Adelia Fitchner Lynn. He married Helen L. Allison in Ainsworth Sept. 11, 1949.
Mr. Lynn was raised in the area and attended Spring Creek country school. He was a World War II veteran and served in the European, African and Middle Eastern theaters. He was a farmer and lived all his life in the Brighton area.
He was a member of the Edgar C. Davison American Legion Post No. 212 in Brighton and the Brighton United Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, John Lynn and wife Martha of Brighton, and Ronald R. Elmore and wife Ann of Mount Pleasant; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Viola Lynn of Brighton.
Mr. Lynn was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; one brother, Donald Lynn; and three sisters, Mildred Taglauer, Goldie Lynn and Opal Loeffler.
