October 27, 2003Cyndy Brown Adam, 48, of Batavia died Friday, Oct. 24, 2003 at her home.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church in Ottumwa, with the Rev. John Spiegel officiating. Interment will be in Batavia Cemetery in Batavia.
Open visitation began at 1 p.m. today at the church, where family will be present from 5-8:30 p.m. A Christian Vigil Prayer service will be conducted at 7 p.m. at the church. The casket will be closed.
A memorial fund has been established in Mrs. Adams name benefiting community interests.
Kremer Funeral Home in Batavia is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Adam was born April 25, 1955, in Ottumwa, the daughter of Robert and Martha Roemerman Brown. She married Nick Adam Sept. 1, 1973, in Fairfield.
She worked side by side with her husband as they built their farming operation, Adam Valley View Farms. She and Mr. Adam also owned and operated the Batavia Conoco convenience store.
She was a member of the St. Mary of the Visitation Church, where she had been involved with the Christ in Others Retreat for the church youth for many years.
She was a member of the Batavia TTT Chapter W, Cardinal Athletic club and Breakfast Club. She was currently president of the Fairfield Bowling League.
Survivors include her husband; three children Shawn of Eldon, Jeff of Batavia and Nicole of Forest City; two grandchildren; one brother, Rick Brown of Batavia; one sister, Melanie Johnson of Leeton, Mo.; and her mother.
She was preceded in death by her father.
