Another one of the pioneers of Walnut township has passed away. On Monday last Barbara, wife of Jacob RIES, died at their home near Germanville in the 74th year of her age. Born in Germany Mar. 30, 1838 and emigrated to America with her parents in 1850, settling in Pennsylvania. In 1854 she was married to Jacob RIES and soon after they came to Iowa and settled on the farm where she died. Survived by husband and four of their eight children, two sons and two daughters. Burial in Union Cemetery south of Germanville.
