Front Page, Column 4A SAD DEATH
The remains of Mr s. (sic) May GILLETT who died Wednesday at her home in Villisca, arrived last night on Burlington No. 2. The funeral occurred this afternoon at 1 o'clock from her father's home near this city. The interment took place in Evergreen cemetery. Deceased will be remembered by hosts of friends here as Miss Emma Mae CORNELL. She grew to womanhood near this city and is a graduate of our high school in the class of 1900. Mrs. GILLETT leaves a sorrowing husband and a little babe but a few days old. Many friends deeply sympathize with the sorrowing relatives.

The body of Mrs. Loren E. GILLETT was brought to this city for interment Friday. Mrs. GILLETT was formerly Emma Mae, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. CORNELL, who live in Liberty township three miles southwest of this city. She was born and grew to womanhood in this county, and was maried in this city May 28th, 1902. Since marriage she has lived in Page county, where she died January 25th. Her age was about twenty-five years. Mrs. GILLETT was a graduate of the Fairfield High school, class of 1900, and was an estimable girl and woman. She leaves a babe about three weeks old. There are many friends and classmates here who will mourn her death and sympathize with the husband and motherless child.

Emma May GILLETT was born in Liberty township, Jefferson county, Iowa, Sept. 28, 1877 and died at her home near Clarinda, Iowa, Jan. 25, 1905. She was married to Loren E. GILLETT May 28, 1902. To this union was born a son. The babe was about three weeks old at the time of the mother's death.
Mrs. GILLETT grew to womanhood in the county of her birth. About seven years before her marriage she went to the home of her grandparents to assist in the care of these aged persons. While in this home she attended the public and high school at Fairfield, and spent four years in school at this place. During her stay with her grandparents her kindness and fidelity greatly endeared her to them. After her marriage she went with her husband to the vicinity of Clarinda and there resided on a farm until the time of her death.
Mrs. GILLETT was a very kind hearted woman, kind and thoughtful in her home and kind and affectionate to everyone. She became a christian and united with the M. E. church about nine years ago, and when she removed to Clarinda she took her church certificate with her and united with the church at her new home.
Her remains were brought here for burial and the funeral was conducted at the home of her father, Mr. Geo. CORNELL, Friday at 1 o'clock p.m., and she was interred at the beautiful Fairfield cemetery (sic - Evergreen Cemetery). Rev. C. Springer assisted by Rev. Rowlingson officiated.
The babe is in the care of Mrs. GILLETT's mother and the sorrowful husband returned to his Clarinda home.

RKT note: Emma Mae (a/k/a "May" in obit of her husband Loren, but "Mae" on her headstone inscription) CORNELL GILLETT was married to Loren E. GILLETT and they lived in Page county, Iowa. Loren (1871-1919) is buried in Memory Cemetery in Page county. Their son was Geo (sic. George) Russell GILLETT, who as of 1931 lived in Wichita, Kansas.Emma was returned to Fairfield for burial in Evergreen cemetery in the CORNELL family plot, 1st.033. She was born Sept. 28, 1877 and died on January 25, 1905.
