G. W. CORNELL PASSED AWAY
Well Known Fairfield Man Died at 10:30 this Morning

George Washington CORNELL, 78, passed away at his home 602 East Adams street, at 10:30 o'clock this morning following an illness of one week. The body was taken to the Hoskins funeral home pending funeral arrangments.

Mr. CORNELL was born in Iowa on December 23, 1853 and has lived in Fairfield for the past 11 years. He is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. Harley THOMPSON of Ottumwa, Frank and Ray CORNELL of Fairfield. He also leaves two grandchildren, Russell JILLETTE (sic. GILLETT) of Wichita, Kan, and Helen LEWIS of Burlington, also the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Laura WIREMAN and Seneca CORNELL of Ottumwa, Mrs. Chloe MILLER and Sylvenus CORNELL of Fairfield and Alva CORNELL of Long Beach, Calif.

CORNELL FUNERAL TOMORROW; 2:30 AT METHODIST CHURCH

Funeral services by George W. CORNELL, who passed away at his home here yesterday, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the first Methodist church in charge of Dr. U. S. Smith. Interment in Evergreen cemetery.

OBITUARY

G. W. CORNELL

George Washington CORNELL was born in Jefferson County, Iowa, December 23rd 1853 and died at his home 602 East Adams St., Fairfield on the morning of May 15th 1931.

Mr. CORNELL was married on September 28th, 1876 to Mary Katherine STEBLETON who preceded him in death having passed away on February 19th, 1925. To them came four children, Mrs. Emma May GILLETTE (sic), deceased, Frank CORNELL, Mrs. Sadie THOMPSON and Ray CORNELL. Two grandchildren, Russell GILLETTE (sic), of Wichita Kansas, and Helen LEWIS of Burlington, also survive him. Five brothers nad (sic) sisters mourn his going, Mrs. Laura WIREMAN and Seneca CORNELL of Ottumwa; Mrs. Chloe MILLER and Sylvenus CORNELL of Fairfield; and Alva CORNELL of Long Beach, California.

Mr. CORNELL's second marriage was September 1st, 1927 to Mrs. Nina HOWELL, who survives him.

Before his death, Mr. CORNELL had been a resident of Fairfield eleven years, and a member of the First Methodist Episcopal Church of this city.

To All Whom It May Concern:

Notice is hereby given that an instrument, purporting to be the last Will and Testament of George W. CORNELL, Deceased, is now on file in the office of the Clerk of the District Court of Jefferson county, and that Monday, June 1, A. D., 1931 at 9 oclock a.m., has been set for proof and final hearing of same.

Witness my hand and the seal of said Court this 19 day of May, 1931.
