Wilma GROH

Wilma GROH, 89, of Spring Valley, Calif., died Wednesday, March 7, 2012, in San Diego, Calif.

A service will be held at a later date in Sioux City. A memorial service will be held Thursday at her church in California. The body has been cremated.

Mrs. GROH was born March 15, 1922, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Floyd Andrew SPEER and Rachel Elizabeth HELPHREY SPEER. She married Robert GROH in June 1947 in her parents' home. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. GROH attended Fairfield schools, but graduated from high school in Nampa, Idaho. She lived most of her married life in Sioux City, until moving to the San Diego, Calif., area to be near her daughter and son-in-law. She was a resident of an assisted living facility in Spring Valley, Calif.

Mrs. GROH organized volunteer activities for the homeless and was recognized for her work.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda WIKSTROM and husband Ken; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Berle SPEER, Barbara JAMISON, Don SPEER and Verna SHANNON.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Bob SPEER; and one daughter, Jonnie Kay GROH.
