Madelene Anna METZ, 82, of 303 E. Fillmore Ave., died at 3:55 p.m. Sunday., Sept. 5, 1999, at Jefferson County Hospital.
The funeral service will be at 1:30 Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Kent officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at Behner Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association-Mississippi Valley Chapter.
Mrs. METZ was born Dec. 1, 1916, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Willard and Ida GiIBERSON BRERETON. She married Myron Edgar METZ Oct. 2, 1935, in Mount Pleasant.
She grew up in the Round Prairie Township and attended Grant No. 3 rural school. She farmed with her husband in Libertyville and Glasgow communities until they retired in 1978. She was a life-long member of the Methodist church, a member of the Wi-Mo-Da-Sis Club near Libertyville, and the Dorcus Society near Glasgow, the Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign War Ladies Auxiliary, and the Sarah Circle at First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Dorothy LITTLE of Aurora, Colo., and Sharon LAWSON of Burlington; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lucille KURTZ of Bettendorf and Jean JOHNSON of Fairfield; and one brother, Harold BRERETON of Fairfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Hollis and Glen BRERETON; and two sisters, Bernice MARTIN and Dorothy WILSON.
