Bessie Irene HECKETHORN

Bessie Irene HECKETHORN, 77, 806 W. Washington Ave., died at 10:02 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999, at Jefferson County Hospital.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Behner Funeral Home. Burial will be in Wright Cemetery southeast of Fairfield. Family visitatioin will be 7-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Mrs. HECKETHORN was born May 15, 1922, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Alva and Rossie COOK SCHULTZ. She married Mervin Leroy HECKETHORN June 3, 1939, in Memphis, Mo. He died July 12, 1983.

Mrs. HECKETHORN lived most of her life in Jefferson County. She was a homemaker and worked at Fairfield Glove Factory, American Chain and Cable and Burlington Ammunition Plant in Middletown.

Survivors include two daughters, Jean SPALLA and Kathy WINLAND, both of Fairfield; four sons, Elmer, Harry and Stanley HECKETHORN, all of Fairfield; Richard HECKETHORN of Brighton; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Marshal and William SCHULTZ; one sister, Janie Bell RHODES; and one grandson.
