RICHLAND -- George Edward STEHL, 67, Blackhawk Township farmer, was found dead Wednesday afternoon in the kitchen of his farm home southwest of Richland.
Jefferson County officers said death was from natural causes. STEHL's body was found by a friend, Jerry James, Fairfield Route 4, who notified the sheriff's office.
Last rites will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Gould Funeral Home in Richland with Jerry James officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
STEHL was born July 7, 1908 at Ashton, Mo., the son of John and Anna STEHL. He was married June 18, 1934 to Edith CORNWELL. She preceded him in death July 7, 1962.
STEHL is survived by two children, Ronald STEHL, Dubuque, and Mrs. Beverly GARRELS, Mount Pleasant; and four grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters: Mrs. Mary SAXINGER, Chicago; Dr. Edilie LANCE, St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. June HARRISON, Renton, Wash.; and Mrs. Cora WEBERSTEIN, Glendale Heights, Ill. Three brothers are deceased.
