William A. MYERS

William A. MYERS, 59, of Ankeny, died Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Faith United Methodist Church in Libertyville, with the Rev. Peggy Ellingson officiating.

Family visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Interment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield.

A register book may be signed until 4 p.m. today at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

A memorial has been established to Faith United Methodist Church of Libertyville.

Mr. MYERS was born Nov. 25, 1952, in Oceanside, Calif., the son of Robert D. and Evelyn C. BYNES MYERS. He was married to Debra BURKE.

Mr. MYERS grew up on a farm southwest of Fairfield. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1972. He received his associate's degree from Indian Hills Community College in 1974 and his bachelor of science degree from Iowa State University in 2006. He was a systems support specialist III in information technology for Iowa State Extension Office in Ames, where he had been employed the past 10 years.

Mr. MYERS was an inventor. He enjoyed spending time with family, biking, boating, fishing, participating in outdoor activities, creating and building. In his youth, he was involved in showing and judging horses. He volunteered each year at the Special Olympics in Des Moines.

Survivors include one daughter, Katie MYERS of Grimes; one son, Troy MYERS of Cedar Falls; and his mother of Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by his father.
