David J. PARSONS

David J. PARSONS, 74, of Waterloo, died Feb. 10, 2012, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

A graveside service and interment of cremains will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Union Cemetery, east of Fairfield, with the Rev. Robert G. Farr officiating.

Memorials to the family may be left at the service or may be mailed to Pedrick Funeral Home, P.O. Box 513, Keosauqua 52565.

Mr. PARSONS was born Feb. 22, 1937, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of John and Mildred FARR PARSONS.

Mr. PARSONS' ancestors were early settlers in the Parsonsville community east of Fairfield, and he visited Fairfield frequently as a youth. He had been employed with Jewel Tea Co., United States Chamber of Commerce and National Federation of Independent Business.

Mr. PARSONS was a member of Prairie Lakes Church, Cedar Falls Sertoma Club and Elks Lodge. He was active with Boy Scouts.

Survivors include his wife, Velma; two sons, Landon PARSONS of Stirling, N.J., and Joe STEFAN of Waterloo; four daughters, Darla HILDEBRAND of Grundy Center, Barbara POWERS of Williamsburg, Va., Teresa BATEMAN of Mill Creek, Wash., and Ann STEFAN of Waterloo; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Wayne PARSONS.
