John Matthew Carter

John Matthew Carter, 23, of 602 S. Main St., passed away Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at his home.

He was born July 15, 1980, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Bruce D. and Cheryl A. Fehrman Carter.

John attended the Maharishi School, graduated from Indian Hills Community College and was completing his senior year at Maharishi University of Management, majoring in art. He was a member of Unity Church.

John loved nature and loved to travel. He was a skilled woodcarver, creating animals and objects from nature. He showed a keen interest in plants and horticulture and was an avid birdwatcher. John particularly enjoyed working at the family tree farm, restoring the balance of nature.

John is survived by his parents, two brothers, one sister, his maternal grandfather Al Fehrman and his paternal grandmother.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Carter Family Tree Farm, four miles northeast of town, at 1826 Okra Blvd.
