Ethan Roy Murphy, 1, of Brighton, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003, at Washington County Hospital in Washington, Iowa.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in Brighton, with the Rev. Brian Gentz, the Rev. Brett Best and the Rev. Mark Young officiating. Burial will be in Sandy Hook Cemetery in Brighton.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Jones Eden Funeral Home in Washington, with the family present from 7-8:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Camp REECE or Camp Jubilee.

Ethan was born Oct. 19, 2002, in Iowa City, the son of Michael and Marcy Goettsche Murphy.

Survivors include his parents of Brighton; grandparents, Keith and Sara Murphy of Washington and Roy and Esther Goettsche of Fairfield; and great-grandmother, Blanche Murphy of Washington.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Karen Thys Goettsche; great-grandparents, John and Roxie Young, Konrad and Malinda Goettsche, and Ric and Dorothy Thys; and great-grandfather, Sam Murphy.
