Kenneth S. Patterson, 85, of rural Richland, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2003, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa following a brief illness.

The funeral was held at 10:30 a.m. today at Gould Funeral Home in Richland, with the Rev. Charles Comfort officiating. Burial will be in Rock Creek Cemetery near Ollie.

A memorial has been established for the Ollie Volunteer First Responders.

Mr. Patterson was born Sept. 27, 1918, in Ollie, the son of Andrew and Nellie V. Van Orsdall Patterson. He married Naomi Wonderlich Dec. 16, 1955, in Richland. She died Oct. 15, 1993.

Mr. Patterson grew up in Ollie and graduated from Ollie High School. He farmed until enlisting in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He farmed until his retirement in 1989.

He was a member of the South Keokuk Church of the Brethren.

Survivors include one nephew, Gary Reinier of Ollie.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; three sisters; and two infant siblings.
