Carl O. NELSON

Carl O. NELSON, 78, 2207 W. Burlington, died at 9:40 p.m. Monday at University Hospitals in Iowa City.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at First Christian Church with the Rev. Charles Kincaid officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Raymond Funeral Home with visitation following from 7:15 to 8:30 p.m.

Mr. NELSON was born July 30, 1905 in Jefferson County, the son of Charles P. and Christina ANDERSON NELSON, and lived most of his life in the Fairfield community. On June (??), 1934,he married Christena DOLL in Ottumwa. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Sheryl LEEDON of Eldon, Angela KLEEMEYER of Fairfield; one son, Kenneth L. of Fairfield; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a brother, Roy of Proid, Mont. His parents, four brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

NELSON was employed by the Iowa Highway Commission for 28 years, retiring in 1970. He and Mrs. NELSON established Nelson Nursing Home in 1958 and moved to their new building in 1975.

NELSON was active member of First Christian Church, where he had served on the board as deacon and elder for many years. He was a member of Clinton Lodge 15 AF and AM in Fairfield.
