FUNERAL OF ALLEN KING TUESDAY

The funeral of Allen KING was held yesterday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the Methodist church and was attended by a large number of old time friends of the family. Rev. C. E. Ward had charge of the last services. Clinton lodge No. 15, A. F. & A. M., held short services at the conclusion of the sermon. Miss Cora Ball sang three solos during the service, after which the remains were escorted by the Masonic order to Evergreen cemetery and consigned to the earth.

Allen KING was born in Highland county, Ohio, January 27, 1837, and and (sic) removed to Jefferson county in 1855, where he engaged in farming and school teaching for a number of years.

In 1862 he went into the army and was discharged after being in over a year for disability and his health had been bad from that time on. In 1872 he removed to Fairfield and engaged in the grocery business for more than eighteen years. In 1891 he removed to Denver where he was in business for a number of years, having lived there more than twenty years.

In September, 1856, he was married to Sarah E. SMITH who died January 8th, 1881. To them were born ten children, six of them now living -- Mrs. Ella WARD, of Fairfield; Mrs. Maude McDERMOTT and Mrs. Lulu A. WILLIAMS of Denver Col.; Mrs. Lydia MELVILLE, of Seattle, Mr. Frank KING, of May, Idaho, and Miss Clair KING, of Austin, Texas.

Mr. KING was married the second time to Mary E. DAVIS, June 8th, 1882, who survives him. Two brothers and five sisters of Mr. KING are still living, Mr. Perry KING being one of the number.

Mr. KING had no enemies, but made friends by his kind, sympathetic life. His last sickness exteneded over one year and one day, and the last eleven weeks were weeks of intense suffering. But through it all he was patient, enduring and hopeful to the end.
