STROKE IS FATAL TO A. E. BUTTERY, FORMER RESIDENT

Adelbert Eugene BUTTERY, 73, for many years a resident of Fairfield, died last night at the Washington county hospital. He was taken as a patient to the hospital last Sunday after suffering a stroke the day before.

The body is at the Omar Hoskins funeral home in Brighton where services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Howard Washburn, pastor of the Methodict (sic) church will be in charge and burial will be in Evergreen cemetery in Fairfield.

Adelbert Eugene BUTTERY was born September 27, 1877 in Neillsville, Clark county, Wisconsin, the son of Austin and Katherine SWAN BUTTERY. He was married in Fairfield to Ethel Ellen JENKINS on June 14, 1905. They moved to Eddy county, North Dakota, where they homesteaded 160 acres, returning to make their home in Fairfield in 1907. He was employed for 25 years at the Turney Wagon works here and later at Loudens Machinery company. After his health failed in 1948, they moved to Brighton, where they have since made their home.

He is survivetd (sic) by his wife and twin sons, Albert Eugene of Ollie, and Delbert LeRoy, superintendent of schools at Richland; four grandchildren; three brothers, Alfred, James and George and two sisters, Mrs. Grace GRANTHAM and Mrs. Lulu McIVER of North Dakota.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Dee, in infancy (sic. she was born/died May 6, 1908, and her parents are buried beside her).
