Virgil Ruth DAHL

The funeral service for Virgil Ruth DAHL, 92, of Parkview Care Center, who died at 10:45 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, 1991, at Parkview, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Raymond Funeral Home, the Rev. Tom Clark officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 Tuesday morning until the time of the service at Raymonds. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

DAHL was born May 28, 1899, in Henry County, the daughter of John Henry and Katherine SMITH WILHELM. The family lived in South Dakota, where DAHL attended rural schools. She completed her schooling in Iowa, after the family returned to the state in 1908. She has lived most of her life in Fairfield.

DAHL married Charles Fredric DAHL in June 1922, and he died in 1923.

She worked as an operator in the office of the phone company in Fairfield for 47 years before retiring. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Wesleyan Circle and American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are one son, Fred DAHL of Queen Valley, Ariz.; one grandson; one sister, Mable PICKARD of Fairfield; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Elsie MURDOCK, Nina GILLASPIE, Eva GUELFF and Vada PIERCE; and two brothers, Elmer MESSER and Marshall WILHELM.
