Pg. 1 Col. 4JOSEPH LATHROP KILLED IN AUTO ACCIDENT
Died in Jefferson county hospital 15 minutes after accident
"Joseph LATHROP, came to his death as the result of injuries received when struck by a car driven by Howard SULLIVAN."
This was the verdict of the coroner's jury investigating the traffic accident which took place at 11:45 p.m. Saturday at Sixth and Burlington street in which Joseph LATHROP, 56, 605 W. Van Buren street, was killed.
The inquest was held by a jury composed of Charles SIRDOREUS, Walter HARRIS, and Truman ROWLEY.
LATHROP was walking west of the south side of the pavement when he was hit by the SULLIVAN car according to Sheriff H. F. GOODALE. He was immediately taken to the Jefferson county hospital, but died fifteen minutes after the accident.
Joseph Franklin LATHROP, 56, 605 W. Van Buren street, died at the Jefferson county hospital at 11:45 p.m. Saturday from injuries received fifteen minutes earlier when he was struck by a car driven by Howard SULLIVAN.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Jessie LATHROP, his father, Jasper LATHROP, three children, 3 brothers, and two sisters. The children are Ernest LATHROP, Mrs. Leon BAILEY, and Mrs. Kathleen RHOADES, all of Fairfield. Brothers are Edward LATHROP of Fairfield, Fred LATHROP of Davenport, and Arthur Lewis LATHROP of Kansas City (sic. listed as "Mrs. A.S. LEWIS" in the obituary of the mother). Sisters are Mrs. George MANLEY and Mrs. Tom LEE, also of Fairfield.
Services will be held Tuesday September 26 at 2:30 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home in charge of Rev. S.P. Williamson. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.
