OBITUARY

Mrs. Leora THOMPSON

Mrs. Leora THOMPSON, born Dec. 22, 1897, died April 10, 1935 at the age 37 years, 3 months, 19 days. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jasper LATHROP of Fairfield.

She was united in marriage to Clyde SMITH, Dec. 25, 1915 (sic. 1918) who preceded her in death.

On Feb. 4, 1927 she was united in marriage to Jacob THOMPSON.

She leaves her husband and her father, two foster children, Jack and Ellen and four brothers; Arthur Lewis of Kansas City, Joe LATHROP of Fairfield, Edward, Fred LATHROP of Davenport and two sisters Mrs. Tom LEE and Mrs. George MANLEY both of Fairfield. Her mother, two sisters and one brother preceded her in death.

Daughter of Jasper Perin LATHROP and Alice Rachel WHITAKER LATHROP.

Her DOB was previously listed as being November 10, 1897. Using her age at death described in her obituary, it appears that December 22, 1897 was her DOB.

Her middle name in Jefferson county cemetery listings is "Cora"; a Jasper Perin LATHROP family group sheet prepared in 1986 used "Dora" for the middle name. Will use "Cora" pending any clarification.

Married first (and buried with) to Clyde Smith on Dec. 25, 1918. Her obit used "1915" in error. Clyde died just a couple weeks later. Married again to a Jacob THOMPSON (no relation to this contributor) on Feb. 4, 1927 in Jefferson county, Iowa.

Buried in Evergreen cemetery, Fairfield, Iowa. 2nd.091 in unmarked grave.
