George W. SHOTTEN, 84, of Keosauqua, died at 11:35 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cantril, with the Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating.
No visitation is planned.
Memorials to Cantril Grass Roots may be left at the service or Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua or may be mailed to Ray Shotten at 519 N. Pocahontas St., Ottumwa 52501.
Mr. SHOTTEN was born Oct. 6, 1927, near Cantril, the son of Wylie and Opal CLOUSE SHOTTEN.
Mr. SHOTTEN grew up in the Cantril area and attended Niles rural school and Cantril grade school. He worked on the family farm. He lived 17 years at Center Village Care Center, north of Keosauqua, and entered Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren in Keosauqua in 2010.
Mr. SHOTTEN enjoyed mowing the yard, growing flowers and attending Cantril baseball games.
Survivors include two brothers, Raymond SHOTTEN of Ottumwa and Norman SHOTTEN of Bloomfield; and two sisters, Madaline NUTT of Atkinson, Ill., and Mary Lou MEADE of Hampton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Margaret LUNSFORD; and one brother, Murl SHOTTEN.
