Lori Sue WORMLEY LOESCHEN

Lori Sue WORMLEY LOESCHEN, 53, of Katy, TX, died peacefully surrounded by her family January 13, 2012. A memorial service was held January 18 at the Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home in Houston, TX.

Lori was born January 4, 1959, the daughter of Myron and Sue WORMLEY, former residents of Fairfield. She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1978 and from UNI. She married Stan LOESCHEN and began her teaching career in Alief in 1981 and taught physical education at Chambers Elementary.

In 1993 she was hired as the lead P.E. teacher at David Outley Elementary and became team leader and was instrumental in helping to form the foundation of the wonderful "Outley" family. Lori's encouragement and nurturing gained her immediate respect and the honor of representing Outley Elementary as Teacher of the Year in 2001.

Lori's leadership went beyond chassroom walls. Always a fitness advocate, she especially wanted to impact the children and felt it her mission to educate them. She spearheaded her dream job as a Wellness/Technology teacher and for the last five years she has guided thousands of children to understanding how to keep their body and mind fit through good nutrition!

She was known as the resident tailor and had a part in making costunes for the plays, and "Box Top Queen" as she was the coordinator of many projects that benefited the students. She was team leader, student teacher supervisor and mentor and chaired many committees, and spent hours before and after school doing what she did best, listen, reflect, coach and lead.

Lori was asked to chair the team of teachers when the school began participating in a district and national program, "Above and Beyond." Throughout the building you would see a "HEART" logo on t-shirts which caused the staff, children and community to walk hand in hand and soar to new heights. Because of Lori, Outley was HEART, Help others, Exhibit enthusiasm, Accept others, Respect yourself and others, and Trust and be trusted. All the children who experienced Lori, as their teacher are the blessed ones who will continue her legacy in the days and years to come.

Lori is survived by her parents, her husband, two sons Steven (Ana) and Michael; her brothers Mark (Sylvia) and Bryan (Heidi) and nieces and nephews. Memorials to a charity of your choice.
