Carol DILLMAN, 54, of 700 S. Seventh St., died at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at Jefferson County Hospital.
The body has been cremated and a memorial service will be arranged for a later date. Raymond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. DILLMAN was born in Keokuk, the daughter of Everett E. and Shirley MONROE HAYNES.
She attended Fairfield schools and lived most of her life in Fairfield.
Survivors include four sons, Stacy RIGLER of Cedar Rapids, Tracy RIGLER of St. Petersburg, Fla., Ian and Kyle DILLMAN, both of Fairfield; one daughter, Shirley RIGLER of St. Petersburg; her mother, Shirley MILTON of Fairfield; three brothers, Gary, Joseph and John HAYNES, all of Fairfield; and one sister, Cathy BIGGS of Taneyville, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her father.

Note: Carol has a memorial gravestone in McDowell Cemetery in rural Jefferson County. According to a story in the "Des Moines Register" of Friday, February 4, 2000, she was quite a character. She was the type of person who loved to crack jokes and have fun, and would always lend a hand when she saw it was needed. Her life was cut short by cancer, but she literally went out with a bang... several, in fact. Her body had been cremated and her ashes were packed into five or six fireworks, which were then launched at a family gathering on Saturday. What a way to go....
