Page 8Rites Monday For Fred VOGT
Last rites will be Monday at 11 a.m. for J. Fred VOGT, 71, who died suddenly about 12:30 p.m. Friday at his home on route 4, Fairfield. He had been in failing health for the past two years but his death was sudden and unexpected.
The services will be at the Weston Behner Funeral home with the Rev. D. O. Van Dyne in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Fred VOGT was born Feb. 16, 1888, in New York City, the son of the late Joseph and Agness COLEWAY VOGT. He ws united in marriage on Nov. 18, 1909, to Martha Jane EDLER. The wedding took place in Fairfield.
A member of this community for over 48 years, he operated a dray service here for 30 years prior to his retirement.
Besides his wife he is survived by the following children: Mrs. Jay C. DELP, Davenport; Mrs. James CRAFTON, Davenport; Chester, Raymond and Arthur, all of Fairfield; and Mrs. Charles FLEMING, Davenport. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Kathleen BLAKE, Portland Ore.
He was preceded in death by one sister, one brother and his parents.
