CARMICHAEL dies at 75

Ralph A. CARMICHAEL, 75, native of Jefferson County, died at 4 a.m. today at the Des Moines General Hospital in Des Moines.

Sevices are tentatively set for 2 p.m. Monday at the Raymond Funeral Home with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Ralph A. CARMICHAEL was born July 2, 1905, near Bernhart, the son of Alex and Elizabeth HEISEL (sic - HISEL) CARMICHAEL. He lived his entire life in Jefferson and Van Buren Counties and moved to Fairfield in 1964.

His marriage to Myrtle BONNETT took place Dec. 4, 1923, in Fairfield. He was a retired farmer and a former superintendent of the Evergreen Cemetery.

In addition to his widow CARMICHAEL is survived by four daughters: Betty LONEY, Waco, Texas; Mary STULL, Fairifield; Donna STREED, Clinton; and Patty MORRIS, Fairfield; one son, Robert CARMICHAEL, Greenfield.

He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jennie NELSON and Clare BUCHANAN, both of Fairfield. He was preceded in death by one sister.

CARMICHAEL rites Monday

Last rites for Ralph A. CARMICHAEL, 508 E. Adams, will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home. The Rev. Wayne Bartruff will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

CARMICHAEL, 75, died Friday at Des Moines General Hospital in Des Moines. He had been a Fairfield resident since 1964.
