Martin 'Marty' J. HOLMES

A memorial Mass for Martin J. "Marty" HOLMES, 42, of South Pasadena, Calif., who died Friday, July 19, 1996, at his home, of complications from AIDS, will be at 11 a.m. Aug. 10 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield. A memorial has been established to the AIDS Service Center, 126 W. Del Mar Blvd., Pasadenca, Calif. 91105.

HOLMES was born June 12, 1954, in Fairfield, the son of Charles and Jeanette HOLMES. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1972. He received a bachelor of science degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Iowa in 1977, bachelor of science degree from the UI College of Medicine in 1980, and a master of business administration from Claremont, Calif., in 1986. He was a biomedical engineer in the Regional Anesthesia Section for the Kendall Company in Chicago from 1980 to 1983. He also worked as a physician's assistant at the Howard Brown Memorial Clinic in Chicago. In 1983, he moved to Claremont, where he was the manager of New Product Designs in the Intraocular Lens Division for the IOLAB Company. From 1989 until his retirement in 1994, he worked in AIDS Clinical Trials Group at University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena.

Surviving are his parents; a long-time companion, Paul YRISARRI; seven, brothers, Charles W. Fort Madison, Tom and Scott, both Cedar Rapids, Dan of Bettendorf, Larry of Davenport, Mike of Plainfield, Ill., John of Fairfield; five sisters, Jeanne HARTMAN of Moreno Valley, Calif., Julie HANSHAW of Fairfield, Jacquie HANSHAW of Palo, Jennifer BYRNES of Champlin, Minn., and Joni GILCHRIST of Douds.
