Richard Thomas Aplara
October 13, 2003Richard "Rich" Thomas Aplara, 34, of Lockridge died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, at his home following an accident.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Jeffrey McPheron officiating. Burial will be at Richwood Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday at Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, with the family receiving friends from 5-8 p.m.
Memorials may be designated to his children.
Mr. Aplara was born Oct. 19, 1968, in Mount Pleasant, the son of Robert Bruce Aplara and Donna Rae Van Tuyl. He married Irene Lance June 25, 1994, in Trenton.
Mr. Aplara graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1987. He was employed with Blue Bird in Mount Pleasant for 12 years and recenly employed at R & S Auto in Lockridge. His pastimes included hunting and fishing with family.
Survivors include his wife; father and stepmother, Bruce and Doris Campbell Aplara of Trenton; his mother and stepfather, Donna Rae and Darrel Messersmith of Brooklyn, Iowa; six children, Tyler and Nicole of Burlington; Kara and Zachary of Muscatine; and Amy and Andrea of Lockridge; three brothers, Doug Aplara of Trenton, Mike Aplara of Mount Pleasant and Terry Aplara of Trenton; four sisters, Debra Aplara of Albion, Roberta Sammons of Mount Pleasant, Angela Townsend of Gilman and Toni Aplara of Iowa City; and his grandparents, Lucille Campbell of Wayland and May Davis of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Virginia Van Tuyl and Max Davis.
