Libertyville Man Dies Following Long Illness

LIBERTYVILLE, Ia., April 26 -- John PEEBLER, 76, passed away at his home in Libertyville last evening at 9 o'clock. Mr. PEEBLER has been in poor health the past four years and seriously ill for the past year.

He was born April 8, 1874 in Jefferson county near Batavia and most of his life has been spent in and near Jefferson county. He was a member of the Brethren church of Libertyville.

He was married to Stella HUMBLE who preceded him in death in 1901. Katie L. PEEBLER, whom he later married, died in 1944. He was also preceded in death by one son in June, 1947 and a sister, Mrs. Anna CREMER.

He is survived by his present wife, Mary EVANS PEEBLER, three sons, Cecil PEEBLER of Brisbane, Australia; Van of Baudette, Minnesota, and John W. PEEBLER Jr. of Batavia; four daughters, Mrs. Wanda McNEIL and Mrs. Helen THOMPSON, both of Baudette, Mrs. Hazel ALLISON of Libertyville and Mrs. Edith WHISTLER (sic - WHISLER) of Batavia, one sister, Mrs. Nora ISRAEL of Batavia; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held in the Methodist church in Libertyville with burial in Fell cemetery. Time has not been announced awaiting word from relatives in Baudette. The body is at the Campbell funeral home in Batavia.

Note: First wife Estella (1875-1901) is buried in Brethren Cemetery. Second wife Katherine Lucinda 'Katie' RODIBAUGH (1873-1944) had been previously married to John Henry WOLF who died in 1897 and is buried in Cumberland Cem.. At this point we do not know where third wife Mary is buried.
