October 07, 2003Maggie J. Keck, 103, of Bonaparte died at 9:27 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hofbauer Funeral Home in Farmington, with the Rev. Catie Newman officiating. Burial will be in Bonaparte Cemetery in Bonaparte.
Visitation for friends will be held after 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Bonaparte First Responders or Bonaparte Cemetery Association.
Mrs. Keck was born April 29, 1900, in Big Mound, the daughter of Robert and Gertrude Isaman Thornton. She married Karl L. Keck May 24, 1917, in Ottumwa. He died November 1964.
Mrs. Keck moved to Bonaparte in 1927.
She was a member of Bonaparte United Church, Order of Eastern Star and Royal Neighbors of America.
Survivors include one son, Karl Keck Jr. and wife Janie of Jamesville, Wis.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death her parents; one son, Robert Keck; one daughter, Roberta Hughes; four sisters; and one brother.
