Waldo H. Crile, 88, of Muscatine, formerly of Fort Madison, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, in Muscatine.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. today at Hofbauer Funeral Home in Donnellson, with the Rev. Brenda Booth officiating. Burial was in Evangelical Cemetery in Donnellson.

A memorial has been established in his memory.

Mr. Crile was born Nov. 12, 1914, in Brighton, the son of Moses Edmund and Bertha Ann Louth Crile. He married Doris E. Schlicher June 29, 1941, in Donnellson.

Mr. Crile was a 1933 graduate of Brighton High School. He served in the United States Army Signal Corps from July 1942 to December 1945, and attended Fort Madison Business School. He was an office clerk for the Iowa State Penitentiary. He retired in December 1989 as assistant credit manager for Sheaffer Pen Company in Fort Madison.

Mr. Crile was a member of First Christian Church of Muscatine and a former member of the Santa Fe United Methodist Church in Fort Madison.

Survivors include his wife Doris Crile of Muscatine; one son, Steven Crile and wife Judy of Muscatine; one daughter Beverly Sanders and husband Mike of Camdenton, Mo.; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Lawrence Crile; and one sister, Viola.
